Beach Houses
This is an ongoing body of work seeking to capture the harmonious relationship between fibro ‘beach shacks’ and the coastal environments they occupy. Controversial due to the harmful materials historically used in their construction, these rapidly disappearing dwellings have none the less come to represent a nostalgic notion of simpler times and a quintessential way of Australian life. Though modest in size and uncomplicated in style, they possess a unique charm and congruence with their environment that many modern structures arguably fail to achieve. It is the artist’s hope to help document the character of these historic homes before they disappear entirely.
